When the world turned its eyes to Melbourne for the 2025 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, 1300TempFence was behind the scenes, ensuring the event ran safely and securely. Our contribution
Across a meticulous three-month bump-in period, our team delivered a massive logistical effort to meet the scale and prestige of the Grand Prix:
- 41.5 km of temporary fencing
- 6.4 km of crowd control barriers
- 1.4 km of razor loop with single strand barbed wire for heightened security
- Self-closing pedestrian gates
- Dog bars to prevent under-barrier access
For the first time at an event of this magnitude, we implemented a razor loop and self-closing gate combo—raising the bar for both safety and operational efficiency.
Challenges and solutions
Executing a project of this scale is never without challenges. The site was dynamic, timelines were tight and demands shifted daily. But our strong team was up for it.
- Adaptability: A rotating crew of 5 casuals and 9 subcontractors enabled rapid response to changing site conditions.
- Consistency: Our hardworking Operations team provided ongoing onsite coordination, ensuring smooth handovers and quality control across all phases.
- Collaboration: Cross-team communication and a proactive planning approach kept the project moving at pace and aligned with evolving client needs.
Outcome
We delivered on time, to spec, and without disruption—an achievement that speaks to the strength of our planning, people, and processes.
