The ACT Government’s transformative investment into the Woden Town Centre is reshaping Canberra’s southern hub. The project includes the construction of a purpose-built Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) campus, a youth foyer, and a new public transport interchange – injecting energy into the local economy and supporting long-term community development.
This major initiative is part of the ACT Government’s $14 billion Infrastructure Plan and is focused on building modern, sustainable, and inclusive public infrastructure. Once complete, the new CIT campus will feature cutting-edge learning environments such as smart classrooms, commercial kitchens, and hands-on training spaces, supporting students in areas like cyber security, IT, hospitality, and business. The transport interchange will include an expanded bus terminal and the Woden light rail terminus, improving connectivity and future-proofing the area.
The brief:
We were engaged by Lendlease, the lead contractor, to support critical site safety and security measures during the final stages of the project. As the existing Colorbond boundary fencing was due to be removed for final landscaping works, our team was tasked with installing a temporary fence solution that ensured the highest level of safety—especially important in a high pedestrian and wind-prone area. Thus, it was critical that this fence had high stability.
The solution:
To meet this requirement, we recommended and installed a perimeter of 86km/h wind-rated engineered temporary fence, along with 90% black shade cloth for privacy and dust control. Installation was staged to work alongside the removal of the existing fencing, requiring close collaboration with the site team.
The result:
The installation not only maintained site security but ensured a safe pedestrian environment throughout this crucial phase of construction. 1300TempFence was proud to have contributed to a landmark project that will serve the Canberra community for generations.
At 1300TempFence, we’re proud to support critical projects with reliable and effective solutions. No matter the urgency or scale of the job, our team is committed to delivering top-tier service.
