As part of the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project, the Kuraby Station precinct is undergoing a major upgrade to improve accessibility, safety and the overall customer experience.

1300TempFence was engaged through its partnership with The Baan Group, on behalf of Beilby Hull JV, to provide temporary fencing across the project. The partnership also supported Beilby Hull JV in meeting its Social Procurement target, while providing the project with the temporary fencing required to maintain safe site separation as construction works continued alongside an active railway line.

Temporary Fencing Along an Active Rail Corridor

Working alongside an active railway line requires careful coordination, reliable access and a temporary fencing solution that can adapt to the demands of an active construction environment.

For the first stage of works, 810m of 113km/h spec temporary fencing was installed, with panels braced every third panel to provide additional stability and secure separation throughout the site.

As the project progressed, a further 980m of spec temporary fencing was delivered, bringing the overall fencing scope to 1,790m across the two stages.

As with any major infrastructure project, there were several factors the team needed to work around throughout the installation, including:

Working alongside an active railway: Installation needed to be carefully coordinated around an operational rail environment and the requirements of the broader project.
Restricted site access: Access for installation vehicles and trucks was an important consideration due to the nature and location of the site.
Heavy rainfall: Periods of wet weather made truck access challenging, resulting in some installation works needing to be rescheduled.
Changing project requirements: As works progressed across different stages of the precinct, fencing requirements and installation areas needed to adapt accordingly.

Despite these challenges, the team continued to deliver the required fencing in line with the project’s construction program.

Supporting Social Procurement Through Partnership

The project was secured through 1300TempFence’s partnership with The Baan Group, an Indigenous business focused on creating opportunities for Indigenous businesses and supporting organisations to achieve their social procurement objectives.

Through its partnership with Beilby Hull JV, The Baan Group supported the joint venture in meeting its Social Procurement target while connecting the project with 1300TempFence for its temporary fencing requirements.

This partnership provided an opportunity for 1300TempFenzzzce to contribute to the project’s broader procurement objectives while delivering the temporary fencing required across the Kuraby Station precinct.

Supporting a Multi-Stage Infrastructure Project

As construction progressed across the Kuraby Station precinct, the project’s fencing requirements evolved across different stages of works.

The staged delivery of 810m followed by a further 980m allowed the fencing solution to scale alongside the project while maintaining secure site separation as construction areas changed.
